Opening of the development cooperation project in Armenia

On August 12, an opening conference has marked the start of the “Safe transport system in Armenia” development cooperation project managed by Lithuanian Transport Safety Administration. The project will aim to improve Armenian road transport system by providing a platform of knowledge and practice exchange between Lithuanian experts and representatives from Armenian transport institutions.

Representative from Lithuanian embassy in Armenia Evaldas Galvanauskas started the project with an opening speech in which he endorsed the successful bilateral cooperation and emphasized the importance and relevance of the project which is shown by the funding and support provided by Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He also expressed hope that this project could be continued next year.

Deputy Minister of Armenian Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Armen Simonyan welcomed the opportunities offered by “Sage transport system in Armenia” project and expressed his confidence that this would only be the beginning of further long-term cooperation. LTSA deputy director Justas Rašomavičius presented goals and challenges of the project which come with current situation across the globe. However, he ensured that Lithuanian experts will make their best effort to share best practices and valuable experience with colleagues from Armenia.

“Safe transport system in Armenia” is the first Lithuanian development cooperation project related to transport in Armenia.

The project is funded by the Development Cooperation program of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
