Authorized classification societies

In accordance with provisions of article 5, part 1, paragraph 3 of the Law on Maritime Safety of the Republic of Lithuania the Lithuanian Transport Safety Administration carries out the flag state control of ships, flying under the flag of Lithuanian state and issues compulsory documents.    

According to the provisions of Article 8 paragraph 1 of the Law on Maritime Safety the right to perform technical supervision and surveys of ships according to the international treaties of the Republic of Lithuania, legal acts of the Republic of Lithuania, and to issue appropriate certificates on behalf of the Republic of Lithuania can be carried out by the Classification Societies authorized by the decision of the Administration according to the procedure established by the Minister of Transport and Communications.

Lithuanian transport safety administration has signed the agreement concerning the technical supervision, survey of ships registered in the register of seagoing ships of the Republic of Lithuania and the issuance of appropriate documents (certificates) with following organizations: 

AMERICAN BUREAU OF SHIPPING (ABS)

BUREAU VERITAS (BV)

DNV GL AS

LLOYD’S REGISTER (LR)

NIPPON KAIJI KYOKAI (NKK)

POLSKI REJESTR STATKÓW S.A. (PRS)

REGISTRO ITALIANO NAVALE (RINA S.p.A.)

RUSSIAN MARITIME REGISTER OF SHIPPING (RS)

 

Authorizations and their capacity for these classification societies on behalf of the Administration to carry out the technical supervision and surveys of ships registered in the register of seagoing ships of the Republic of Lithuania and issue the appropriate documents (certificates) are granted by the orders of Lithuanian transport safety administration.
